Do you ever find yourself while listing to a great sermon or speech wondering off in your mind and piecing a picture together of what is being said? Then maybe going a little further and formulating your own picture of a reality or a far off dream?
Well, I have had many, the problem is that as soon as the music stops, the meeting is over, the rumble of voices that rise to fill the space that held so much meaning seems to some how end, the deeper thoughts that once held your heart leave as you exit the building.
For years I have wanted to paint the ideas that have run through my mind. I have drawn thousands of pencil drawing as I grew up, and only a few painting. Paintings take on a whole new skill set, and I never really spent the time to learn it.
However, in the past six months, I did sit down by my computer and open up Photoshop on several occasions. Photoshop has allowed me to articulate what is in my minds eye and put it to canvas – so to speak.
The paintings below are drawings of where my heart is at. Yes, I love what I do with websites and software development, but the real picture is bigger than that, most people know it but are unwilling to come face to face with it. What I hope to get across in these paintings, and maybe more when I am inspired to do so, is convey a message, a story in one view, that would take the written word days to describe.
The all seeing eye of God (top left) is overlooking humanity as we have made it. Freedom is always at stake, and as an American, willing to fight for that freedom. For many, prayer is our way of connecting to our Creator, hoping for peace.
We live in a world filled with fear, malice and anger. We were born into a battle for our soul. What separates us from the love of Christ?
The gap that separates the learning and the understanding can only be filled by faith. And faith is exercised only through action, where experience leads us to understanding. Steve Nyhof
