For years I have written testimonials for about every product and service I have purchased or been involved with. Why? Because I’m a nice guy? Nope! I do it for me. Well, not completely. Writing a testimonial today can offer a way to brand yourself, and in many cases get a link back to your website.
But it is in how you write the testimonial that matters more. I have had several testimonials be placed at the top of the testimonial page of a number of company’s. You can do this by over doing it just a little, you know, really ham is up about the company!
At the same time, write it so that others that read it learn that you are someone they would like to know more about, or know more about what you do.
Which brings me to the next point, it is fine to drop a word or two about what you do…
“Your product has really helped the organization of my Internet business. Helping me focus more on offering greater value to my clients.”
That’s enough, make sure this is a small percent of your testimonial.
Make it long enough to impress the reader that you cared enough to share your heart. But not too long that they wont read it. And, break it up so it looks and reads well into one or two sentience paragraphs.
Lastly, don’t forget to sign it and add your website url. Say Thank You, do not say Thanks. Thanks is for takers – shifting eyes. Thank “You” is a giver – eye contact. People want to do business with a giver, not a taker.

The biggest hurdle in starting a business online is not even trust, as many would say. It is in the not knowing and understanding what doing business on the Internet is all about. There is only one way to find out, get on the bike and experience the thrill of the ride. Only then will you understand, and not before.
It was a typical sunny summer day when I said to my daughter Alicyn, now 8 years old, that today was the day that she was to learn how to ride her bike without the training wheels.
She could see by the look on my face that I was not going to take no for an answer. So we headed outdoors to the garage where we busily worked at removing the training wheels.
What does all this have to do with Internet Marketing you ask? Everything. In fact this article plays a very important part in how someone new to Internet marketing will learn how to articulate and express themselves in a way that draws the reader in.
Aliy put her helmet on as we walked to the sidewalk in front of our home. There was grass on both sides of the sidewalk offering room if or when she lost her balance.
I will be writing another article using this same example to show where faith also plays a role, and that from that article you will also see how faith plays a role in our choices as an Internet marketer.
An example of this is that for the last several years Aliy was riding her bike with training wheels, but very seldom did the training wheels touch the ground while she was riding.
Now that the training wheels were off, she lost faith in her own ability to keep from falling, yet this was all in her mind. As we moved down the sidewalk I held onto the bottom of her seat and ran with her. While this held some form of comfort, she was still afraid and I had to assure her that everything was going to be alright.
Up and down the sidewalk, encouraging her that she was doing great. Then I began to run with her with my hand under her seat, but not holding it anymore. She was now trusting that I was there and supporting the bike. However, I was not, but only giving the illusion that I was.
Then we stopped turned the bike as we had done several times before. She got going with me running next to her, only this time I slowly backed away leaving my daughter to herself. She could hear my foot steps fade behind her, and she knew she was on her own, now laughing and quite proud of herself for her accomplishment, and I knew her confidence was driving her now.
I wasn’t there when she needed to stop and so Aliy decided to take the path of the grass shoulder where she stopped and fell softly on the grass.
Well, this went on for the next half hour or so, but before the evening had come, we both went on a bike ride around the block. I had told her for several weeks before this day, that once she learned how to ride a bike, a new world would open up to her that she would not know until she made this step to learn how to ride a bike on her own.
I believe this is a great example for anything in life. Driving a car, traveling to another state or country, or starting a new business. Each one can be viewed from the outside. We can see cars go down the road, watch television shows on exotic places we would like to see. And we know that people are running businesses every day.
You will never understand the finer things in life, until you fully experience them for yourself.
However, until you take action and sit behind the wheel of a car, or take the beginning steps to start a new business, you may find it difficult to fund that exotic vacation you have always been talking about. More importantly, you will never understand these things until you fully experience them for yourself.
Aliy had fun riding her bike around the driveway, but when the training wheels came off, she came to understand; and only through experience, a magical world that allowed her to go beyond a world that she realizes now was restricting her of the real joy of what riding a bike is really all about.
Starting a new business certainly is different than learning to ride a bike, yet it is a similar fear that keeps many people from taking the necessary steps to learn and do something new.
Before the Internet, many businesses only existed after their owners invested tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars before they began to turn a profit. The Internet brings a new world of opportunity for the entrepreneur who is ready and willing to invest a few hundred to a few thousand before it begins to turn a profit.

Whether you are looking for a new home based business or you have just started one and want to gain control over what it is all about, I want to share what I have learned that will give you some breathing room. So please relax, this endeavor is not as big as you might think.
If you are looking for a new business opportunity, this information will help you step into and start a new business by helping you focus on what is most important to it’s growth or existence – gaining customers.

You need to learn how to gain customers – first.
This might sound like a contradiction if you do not have a business. But I’m not asking you to gain customers for a business that does not exist. I said, you need to “learn how” to gain customers.
I understand that you cannot bring customers into a business that does not exist. However, you still need to understand that it is the customer that makes a business function. Without the customer, there is no business – none. You say, “Steve, that is a no brain-er, who doesn’t already know that?”
The reason I am telling you this is because most people searching the Internet for a new home based business or some Internet marketing business opportunity are trying to understand what “a” or “the” business is all about first, or what the business plan or model is all about. While this is important, it is not as important as first learning how to attract customers to your business or offer.
Many home based businesses have everything already setup for you. Therefore making it very easy for you to step in and quickly focus on what is important – gaining customers. (Every business has it’s start and it’s existence because of it’s customers.) Learning this will open your eyes to possibilities of owning or running multiple businesses.
So, in light of the fact that many online business opportunities already have the business model in place, therefore allowing you to focus on the customer, you want to first learn some basic information about attracting customers before you join a business, or continue trying to learn everything about the business or company you are associated with.
Once you get some basic understanding on how the Internet can work for you, and how you can use some simple and free resources to attract and gain customers, you will then begin to understand what and how to look for a new home based business, or how to more effectively run your existing Internet business.
All of that being said to bring you to my point and exercise. And that is that only through experience will you fully understand what I am sharing with you.
Free Press Release Submission
You can do a google search for “Free Press Release Submission” to find a free press release site. Setup an account, and write your first press release about anything… Maybe you have a new website, or there is a party this coming Friday, whatever you like. Read the sites guide to setting up a press release, write it and submit it. Congratulations is in order when you complete it! You have just taken a very important and powerful step toward running a successful home based business.
There is of course a lot more to submitting a quality press release that gets attention, but that is not the purpose of this article. Now go to google and search for the title or some part of a sentience in your press release with quotes (and maybe your name) and it should show up. Once you see a press release that you typed show up on google, and within hours of submitting it, you will begin to understand the power at your finger tips.
Now you just need to refine your knowledge and keyword/phrase skills and you will be well on your way to understanding what a new home based business can do for you now with this new knowledge. Again, you will not understand what I am telling you until you submit your first press release.

Knowledge was quite proud of himself while arriving at school that warm sunny morning. He had gained some new information that he was sharing with everyone. In the teachers lounge, Knowledge was very excited while he told Wisdom, the principle what he had learned. Wisdom, calmly listened, quit sure Knowledge should have been a little more discerning and careful with this new information. The bell rang and Ms. Understanding took one last sip of her coffee and said she needed to get to her class.
In the middle of her lecture, Learning raised his hand to ask a question. Ms. Understanding, the teacher, turned and asked what he wanted. Learning gazed out the window as he asked, what you are telling us makes a lot of sense, but I do not know how… Action interrupted while jumping to her feet, with excitement in her voice, she said that we can all meet Experience, a friend of mine after school to test it out together, then we will all know for sure!
Learning shuttered at the thought and said, maybe we are not ready yet, maybe we should learn more first. Excuse, Learning’s brother agreed, and said they both needed to go home right after school. Faith couldn’t stay quite any longer either, we are all afraid of the unknown she said, but if we do not believe and try, we will never really understand. Meanwhile, Fear was shifting in his seat, all this talk was making him quite nervous, he wanted nothing to do with this endeavor.
The next morning Ms. Understanding asked her students what they had learned. With smiles on their faces they all agreed it was a great adventure. In fact, Faith, Action and Experience are all my best friends now, said Learning. Excuse rolled his eyes and was quite sure it was all a bit silly. Then the students looked around the class and asked the teacher why Fear was not present. She said that he would not be coming to school today. However, a new student has joined us; say hello to Hope.

For about a month or two now I have been wrestling with the thought of where our faith, our talents and Gods intervention all fit together. We are hearing some pretty out-there ideas about our abilities to accomplish great things with our minds.
As I was trying to figure this out, the Biblical story of David and Goliath came to mind. Many of us growing up in the church understood a simple version of a young boy, a small Shepard boy who had older brothers currently at war with the Philistines.
David is sent by his father to bring food to his brothers. Upon arrival, David hears a loud voice call out in the distant; Goliath, a giant of a man standing nine feet, nine inches tall who has come a number of times to challenge anyone, some man who would fight to the death; the losers nation would be slaves to the winner.
David, a man after Gods own heart (according to Psalms), was wondering why someone has not already fought this blasphemer. David was outraged, and seeing that every other man available was not willing to fight, decided he himself would fight.
As the story unfolds, we know that David wanted no armor for protection, picked up five stones in a brook for his sling (a leather strap with a pouch), and headed to face Goliath. Goliath slewed out some vile words of protest before David said to him… ““You come to me with a sword, … But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts…”
David runs toward Goliath, grabs a stone from his bag, and using his sling he hits Goliath in the forehead – killing him. That is the story as we remember it as a kid. A little boy, killing a giant of a man – And the Lord was with David.
The Real Story
I am not going to dismiss the fact that God plays a very big roll in this story. However, the role that God plays I believe is different than what you might think. The way I understood the story, is that God guided the stone, a spiritual intervention taking place to accomplish His goal. Now you nor I cannot deny this, but because we live in a world that for the most part does not play fair, we have a hard time believing that God plays a part with much of anything. Yet I know He does.
Life itself can be very hard for some, and good for others. Knowing this as well as looking closer at the the story of David and Goliath, I have a different idea of how David was able to, not only kill Goliath, but anticipate this encounter without fear.
How much fear and doubt do we spend our time on when facing a large challenge? Even a small challenge. Well, if you read the story carefully in I Samuel 17, you will find that when David was brought to King Saul, Saul tells David he is but a youth. The first words out of David’s mouth is that as a Shepard, when a lion OR A bear took a lamb, he would go after it, strike it and remove the lamb, and when it would rise up against David, he would grab it by the beard and kill it.
What are you learning about David? He is not just a boy is he? But a young man with the skills of a great warrior. One thing for sure, he is nothing like the young men growing up in our age.
A Year In Africa
I was 19 years old when I was in Uganda Africa, many of the men had self made scars on their bodies proving their path into manhood by having killed a lion. They told me that as young boys, typically around the age of 13 years old, they would have to go out and kill a lion, and not to return home until they had done this. We seen the same thing in the movie “300″.
I know what you might be thinking, what kind of parents send their children out to face a lion? Answer: Parents that want to raise men and woman to become great and do great things. What has our culture raised?
To give you a little more highlight into the story, the boys are trained to use thorn branches tied to one of their arms (these thorns are 3 to 5 inches long, not something you would find on a rose bush), and a sharp knife in his other hand.
When a lion attacks, it goes for the throat of a human. (Sorry ladies, this is turning into a bit of a macho thing, but bear with me, you will soon see where I am going with this.) As the lion is leaping the young man thrusts his arm with the thorns into the belly of the lion, now connected, sidestepping and following the lion down to the ground so that the lion ends up on its back, while the young man drives the knife home into the chest of the beast.
You get the picture. This is practiced over and over while growing up until the skill is perfected. But facing a lion still would take a lot of courage.
Back to David and Goliath
So, now lets go back to David with what we just learned from the youth in Uganda. We can let our minds wander a bit to imagine that David most likely acquired some amazing skills, because he used them to kill at least one lion and one bear. If you read the text, it says that “…when a lion or bear took a lamb…” so there could have been more. I can also imagine that David could pick leaves off a tree branch at will with his sling.
At this point, you might be wondering, if it is skill (knowing, understanding, wisdom, action) then what does faith and God have to do with it?
David understood that God was the creator. He has faith in the mind that God gave to him. David was not really thinking about the talents that God has gifted him with, he just knew he needed to protect the sheep. I would guess that there were others, maybe himself or his brothers at one time or more that lost sheep to lions and bears.
When a problem presents itself, we find a way to solve the problem. However, we are not always using our brains; when the can was invented to store food, it took 40 years before someone invented a can opener. Sorry, that one was free. True story!
But I am not going to end the story here, because I do not like stories that end poorly.
Let’s take a closer look at what David said to Goliath…
“You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”
What is David doing in these words he is sharing to all that would hear? First of all, we can see that he was eloquent with his words; powerful words. This is no ordinary young man. He has been refined by his culture and beliefs.
But the most important thing that sums up this entire story, is Davids gift back to God by using the brains and skills that God gifted David with. David wants to make sure that God is glorified, that God be praised above all else. David recognizes that without God, there is no food producing land, no sunsets, no air, well… nothing!
Each one of us should want to be used of God in some way in our life time. Did God send the lion and the bear to refine David and his skills for this day? Maybe, I don’t know. Either way, David was a man who believed in a God that provided. He put his faith in a God that gave him the ability to become more by refining himself.
It is because of the Creator, in His Love toward us, gifted each one of us with a brain and a body, capable of doing extraordinary things when put into practice.
The next time you are faced with a difficult decision, or you have a dream you want to see fulfilled, are you going to wait for someone, maybe even God to do something for you? Is it possible that God is waiting for you?

Today my wife and I were driving down the road enjoying a Sunday drive and passed a little girl selling lemonade. As we past she was seated behind a table which occupied her products. Not a real hot day do I don’t think she was getting much business, even though she lives on the most expensive street in Holland, Michigan along the shore line of Lake Macatawa.
I didn’t think about it again until we returned. This time as we approached she stepped out near the street and began to do cartwheels. Not to entertain us I don’t think, but to get our attention. As we passed I looked in my rear view mirror to see what she was going to do for the next car.
Not a cartwheel this time, but a little dance and pointing to her lemonade stand. I told my wife, that is what marketing is all about, not only doing things to get peoples attention, but trying different things to find out what will bring in a buyer.
Now I know that little girl is not trying to make a living, but for many people trying to make a living, you need to find ways to get the word out to your prospective buyers.

Yesterday I was talking with a friend who owns a local business. I was sharing with him these ideas. He told me that he was already using press releases to get the word out, but never thought much about the importance of keywords.
As I showed him a number of my listing in google.com he became aware that I knew something that he wanted to learn and implement to boost his company exposure. I told him to take all of his old press releases and go through them one by one and update them with keywords people are most likely to enter to find them.
However, just entering any keyword or phrase you think will work is not enough to insure it will be found. You can use the google.com free keyword tool and gain a lot of information which I continue to do, but I also use Micro Niche Finder because if offers so much more information to targeted keyword phrases, as well as lets you know if the keyword phrase it worth pursuing or not.
This software has helped me target those niche markets with my articles and press releases and gain top number one position in google.com, typically within a day or two, if not within hours of publishing.
Which Internet Marketing System Is Right For Me and You? Haven’t we all asked this question as we get involved, try this mlm, try this affiliate program, try this system and that one. It’s enough to turn your stomach into mush. Frustration goes to levels you never dreamed where possible. Sick and tired of listening to everyone telling you how great things are, only to find out later, that not a single person can come forward and tell you they are really making it work.
Don’t get me wrong, you and I both know there are many people who are making it, and making it big. But who are they really? Who are the ones that are getting ahead?

Ok, let me elaborate on that last statement, while I continue to pursue just a few main company’s online, I always keep my eyes open for other opportunities that may generate another income stream. A good practice when joining any program or company is go to the forum, there may be information there that can save you a lot of money and time.
I was reading one yesterday and looking through the area where discussion for 3k to 5k earners can come and talk and learn more from each other. Well, you know how conversations can turn, one guy jumps in completely new at Marketing online and is to say the least completely out of his mind trying to get answers from anyone.
Then I read a little more going into the second page of posts mostly just talk, and there is a guy there who has been with the company for 9 months and still only making several hundred a month busting his tail. Asks the question… Why doesn’t anyone come out and say what they make and how they got there?
One person does answer him making $1500 a month, but has done many extra things to make that work… That is where the conversations ended. So I canceled my free 30 day account. Am I a quitter? I like to think I am convincing myself that what I currently promote still stands out above the rest.
How Are We Made Up?
Let me explain from a home designer stand point. I have drawn more than 5000 house plans over a 28 year period, some of them part time while I was a tool and die maker, but mostly when I went into business full time as a custom home designer, later a builder.
With 5000 house plans drawn you can guess that I have met a lot of people. Yes, and in time I began to learn the different types of people, or people groups. The group I want to cover are those that love and want everything on a $150,000 budget, the husband/wife typically do not agree on many things and in fact on several occasions, I have asked them to leave and come back when they sort it out.
You may have heard a comment like, “I know what I don’t like, but I do not know what I like”. This problem exists when people want or love everything, or more appropriately said, these people are not thinking about their needs.
It is my job to help people understand how to put their needs and wants into a house plan (home) that will fit their needs, but also have some of the features or benefits that they want. However, there are those that will have me change not only things about a plan, but change plans completely.
What are they doing?
Well, they are trying everything within reason, or no reason eliminating the things they do not want. Their focus is so engulfed in all the things they love and want, (which will never fit into a $150,000 budget) that they end up spinning their wheels, never getting what they need. Ever if they do settle on a design, after living in their house they complain about what they should have done differently.
How does this and Internet Marketing fit together?
Well, I believe if you are new to Internet Marketing, you need to take it slow. I was telling my wife yesterday, when I built my home design company, work was continually coming in supporting the steps I was taking to improve the company. But back then, I didn’t even think about it. I just found the areas that needed attention and developed systems to either automate or address the issues and moved on. What’s the big deal!
Internet Marketing is a business. Period. It’s going to take a long time to develop and grow just like anything else. If you are a business person you understand what I am saying. There are too many promotions going on that are targeting the newbie out there, someone who was just laid off and knows nothing about business.
I have been with CarponCopyPRO sense May. I have not pushed it hard at all because I am still drawing house plans and selling my websites. I have a meeting with a customer to build a home. But it is slow for the housing market and I do not see it coming back any time soon. I will not sit on my hands and hope someone else or the government will save the day, they are destroying everything small business has built.
The one thing I have learned from joining CarbonCopyPRO was that they have a goal of 100 millionaires by 2012, that is a great goal and every company needs to assail to something bigger to grow. This goal includes a number of things that require the best marketers, using a proven system, with the best marketing tools to reach their goals.
What I have learned is that for a small price, I was given access to thousands of dollars worth of Internet resources, step by step training on everything concerning the advertising of their BiB product. However, as a business man looking for ways to advertise on the Internet, I paid a small price to be trained by the best.
Let me say this again. What is the agenda of a marketer who wants to sell you a product? A single product, like “How to use Google Adwords” or “How to write great emails”, etc. What is their agenda? To sell you the ebook course. That’s it! Again, I am not saying that these ebooks or courses will not give some great advise that can help you, but the agenda is still different.
When I joined CarbonCopyPRO I receive everything I need as a marketer to grow my Internet Business. They do not care about the tools, videos and course they use to promote their product. If you are thinking about getting into Internet Marketing, give this some thought.

When things really work, you believe you are really something and now capable of anything, to do anything. But this is a recipe for disaster. Never stop being grateful.
As I got further involved with Internet Marketing as a business, continually learning and testing new things, I realized that the steps to any successful business is the same, online or off.
You must continually work at building a strong foundation (another topic), but you must also focus on some simple things that can prove to be successful. You need a little motivation to strengthen your interest and excitement as you build your business.

So what is different from the people in this video, and you or me? I think they ignored what people said, maybe even got a little mad for what was said! Maybe it is that desperate feeling we get at times that causes us to retaliate in ways that drive us to prove something, anything, maybe just so we can strike back in some way. But what happens next may end up becoming the single most important thing that happens in our life.

You may have just done something that proves you are not stupid, like Thomas Edison, or have no imagination, like Walk Disney. Nevertheless, people are still against you, more interested now in proving you wrong, despite what they see and know. But there is one friend, maybe your spouse, or a child who looks deep into your eyes while you sit and stare into space, and tells you, “Daddy/Mommy, I believe in you.” The emotion on your face doesn’t change as you drop your stare and gaze into the eyes that know who you really are. Inside your heart begins to pound and you are now ready once again empowered to move ahead – you can’t quit. You tell yourself, I will never quit!
There will be those who read this and leave because they are too young to have never really failed, so they do not fully understand what it means to really live. But some do.
For the rest of you, let me tell you what motivated me to write this post. It is not so special that I expect the world to stop and listen, but for me as a business man learning new ways to promote my businesses, this was one of those small successes that has me excited to learn more and press on.
For the last several weeks, I have been writing articles and press releases using a number of Free services, testing a number of things I have learned in the course found in the Resource tab. I am promoting these because they have helped save me time and frustration as I continue to adapt the Internet as my main marketing resource for my businesses.
So here is my little success that is motivating me. Maybe you have learned some things concerning these things as well and would like to share your experiences.
I have been writing about keywords and content for a long time to my home builder website clients. Not a very excitable group of people to get motivated about using the Internet to promote their company’s.
However, through the courses Mike Dillard teaches about Magnetic Sponsoring, and the back office information, tutorials that CarbonCopyPRO provides I have learned a great deal about growing my own businesses by using the technology available on the Internet.
Some of you will laugh and tell me you knew of these things years ago, while hopefully others who haven’t heard, this information might be helpful and offer a bit of hope and inspire you to test these things out for yourself.
I have been trying to get people to my house plan business site for many years, but only a handful of visitors were showing up. Mainly I think from word of mouth and people searching locally, including the city and state in their search words. Currently there are 1,220,000 searches every month for house plans, and over 76,000,000 listings. Who am I against this?
Getting to the Answers
In January of 2009, I learned a few things with Butterfly Marketing by Mike Filsaime. The main thing had nothing to do with the program, but rather that he was giving away a $2000.00 course for free – all I had to pay was $29.95 for shipping. He mentioned that there were over 40,000 people interested, and some of us were going to have to wait for more copies to be printed.
Please stay with me here, I am not trying to lead you anywhere, I am just trying to show you something I am sure you can apply to your own businesses.
Now I don’t know about the cost to produce and ship this manuscript and CD’s, but just as a guess, I chose $25.00 per unit, leaving $4.95 for profit.
$4.95 times 40,000 equals $198,000 to give away good information. Wow!
Ok, I thought. Maybe it is time to give away my house plans – Free house plans. I checked the stats on Google Adwords Keyword Tool and found 60,000 searches every month, today it is at 74,000.
Ok, if I could just get 1 percent of 60,000 people to order a free house plan, and pay a processing fee of only $29.95 that would have the potential of 600 buyers, or $17,970.00 per month. That would be nice, but still no way to get them to my website.
Now I do not believe 600 people will buy plans from me, but even 200 to 300 a month I do believe is possible, and it takes me about 5 minutes to process an order.
Getting Results
I sat down several weeks ago and wrote a press release about my new free house plan website and submitted it. Several hours later it showed up on the second page on google.com. Slowly over the days that passed it moved up. But then I learned about SocialMarker.com and began to submit my posts, articles and press releases to all the social networking sites and my press releases and articles go right to the top of google.com – What I am seeing as a two step process.
I have sense written a number of articles and press releases all with the same results. My press release for free house plans has been viewed more than 1100 times in less than two months. I made a website and press releases for insulated boiler pipe and outdoor wood boilers, several businesses I am working with my brothers on. I have found countless other keyword phrases to get people to my free house plan web site by the hundreds. Just two months ago I was at about 1800 new people visiting my site, last month (August) I was over 3400. This month I will get over 4000. This works! Keep writing. Have fun with it.
I am not going to dismiss the fact that God plays a very big roll in this story. However, the role that God plays I believe is different than what you might think. The way I understood the story, is that God guided the stone, a spiritual intervention taking place to accomplish His goal. Now you nor I cannot deny this, but because we live in a world that for the most part does not play fair, we have a hard time believing that God plays a part with much of anything. Yet I know He does.
I know what you might be thinking, what kind of parents send their children out to face a lion? Answer: Parents that want to raise men and woman to become great and do great things. What has our culture raised?
